Prominent Rock Hill Citizen Died At His Home Today

Daniel Webster Davis, one of Rock Hill's oldest residents, died at his home on Rhea Street at 11:45 o'clock today after an illness resulting from a stroke of paralysis Monday.

Mr. Davis was born March 14, 1855, in Moore County, NC and was married to Miss Julie E. Sanford on June 25, 1874. He had resided in Rock Hill for the past 35 years and for a number of years conducted a meat business here which his sons have continued.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the residence by Rev. D.M. Sanders, supply pastor of the First Baptist Church. Internment will be at Laurelwood. Surviving are his widow and three daughters, Mrs. J.L. Dozier. Mrs. R.G. Brown, Mrs. W.A. Parrish, of Greensboro, NC and two sons, A.F. Davis and John L. Davis, both of Rock Hill.
